Timothy “Timmy” “TJ” “Tim” Joseph Day

Timothy “Timmy” “TJ” “Tim” Joseph Day of West Des Moines, Iowa died on May 8, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 1, 1948. At a very young age he was mischievous and remained that way throughout his life. Following graduation from East High School, he joined the Marines. He was a Vietnam Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star with V Device and Purple Heart with Star.


He had a strong work ethic and family values. He regularly called his family to just say hi and talked with his childhood friend almost every day. He loved playing golf, watching it on TV, and would spend hours cleaning his clubs. He enjoyed collecting coins, telling jokes, watching westerns and nature documentaries. He loved his family the best way he knew how and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. He faithfully gave to many non-profit organizations, especially those helping Veterans and Indigenous Americans.


Tim is survived by his four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, twin brother, and two wives.


Corporal Day is laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
