Timothy Joseph Wilson

Timothy Joseph Wilson, 58, went home to be with his loving Savior Jesus Christ, on October 19, 2025, at the Suites of Ankeny Assisted Living.  Born in Story City, IA, on November 23, 1966, Tim was the second son lovingly adopted by Ralph and Marilyn (Satre) Wilson. He joined his older brother, Jeffrey Bruce Wilson, in the family’s home in Des Moines.

The Wilson men shared a deep bond over their love of hockey. For many years Ralph, Tim, and Jeff traveled to numerous tournaments, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Tim’s passion for hockey never waned and he was a devoted fan of the Iowa Wild, holding season tickets to cheer on the team. He was also an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye’s football and often went to see the Iowa Cubs play baseball.

A 1985 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Tim went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1985 to 1989, earning an Honorable Discharge. Upon his return, he worked for several years with the United States Postal Service before retiring due to health reasons.

Tim’s deep love for family was evident in every part of his life. A devoted and faithful son, Tim cared tenderly for his parents in their later years, visiting them almost daily at their care facilities until their passing – Ralph (2015), and Marilyn (2020).  He enjoyed gathering with his remaining family for birthdays, holidays and general fun.

He was an active and beloved member of Capital Hill Lutheran Church for many years, where he joyfully and humbly served others. Tim enjoyed helping the Bicycle/Burrito ministry make 900 Burritos every Thursday to be delivered to the homeless in the City.  Known for his kind words, infectious smile, and heart of gold, Tim was always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. His faith in Jesus was central to his life every day.  He also attended Heartland Church, where he especially cherished the fellowship of the monthly Men’s Breakfast gatherings.

Tim enjoyed his friends at Suites of Ankeny who joined him in playing games, pool, painting, exercising, Bingo and great conversations at mealtimes.  He touched countless lives through his gentle nature, wonderful sense of humor, and generous spirit. He will be remembered as a joyful, kind and humble servant of the Lord, who lived out his belief in Christ every single day. Great is his reward in heaven!

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.  Surviving Tim are many relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2025, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service and a Luncheon. All will be held at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church (511 Des Moines St., Des Moines, IA).

The family extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to Tim’s loving Community of Caregivers and friends at the Suites of Ankeny, whose compassion made Tim’s final years safe, meaningful, and a lot more fun!

Memorial contributions can be made to Capital Hill Lutheran Church.

**A Military Honors burial will be held on November 10, 2025 @ 9:30 a.m., at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, IA).
