On January 23, 2024, Theodore (Ted) Ray Bragg, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Iowa Methodist Hospital.
Ted was born March 13th, 1937, to Dean and Viva (Daniel) Bragg, being one of 9 siblings. Ted grew up on the Southside of Des Moines, attending Lincoln High School. Following school, Ted would go on to work in the home improvement business, where he would eventually establish Ankeny Home Improvement.
Ted married Donna Jean Lindberg in 1955, sharing 44 years of marriage before her passing in 1999. The couple had 4 sons, Ted Jr, Ron, David, and Rod.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.He enjoyed a coffee while visiting with his many friends and family. In retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Sydney, Australia and Florida camping with friends. He was known for being an avid hockey, baseball and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He enjoyed bingo, bean-bag baseball and socializing with other retirees.
Over the many years, Ted and his family would welcome many exchange students from all over the world. Ted and Donna welcomed Peter VonWalden from Sweden and he quickly became another son. Along with opening his home to various students, Ted would also welcome strangers and friends alike in time of need. He loved lending a helping hand.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, 7 siblings, son David, and special friend Kathy Lame.
Ted is survived by his brother Don (Carolyn), sons Ted (Tulin), Ron (Kris), Rod (Shantel), grandchildren, Stephanie (Anthony), Samantha, Esma (Saif), David, Curtis, Alyssa, Natalie and great-grandchildren, Caden, Ava, Juell, Julian, and Jakari. Special Niece Marie (Frank) Neer.
A service and memorial will be held at Ankeny’s Lutheran Church of Hope, 520 NW 36th St, 50023, on Monday. February 5, 2024. Visitation for family will be held from 11am-12pm and 12-1pm for friends. A memorial service will begin at 1pm. Following the service, Ted’s favorite drinks and desserts will be served.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family to be used at a later date, in honor of Ted.
