Sherry Lou Williams

Sherry Lou Williams, age 82, passed away November 6, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family. Sherry was born April 7, 1943, in Winterset, Iowa. 

 After graduating from college, Sherry enjoyed being a physical education teacher at various schools. Sherry’s favorite activities to teach her students were crab soccer and tinikling. Sherry worked for the Iowa Civil Rights Commission for many years as a housing investigator. Sherry was very passionate about her job and helping individuals with disabilities.

 Sherry had a great love for softball. She enjoyed coaching and playing for many years. Sherry often enjoyed playing tricks on her softball players. Sherry passed her love of softball down to her great great niece Paisley and enjoyed teaching her softball skills. Sherry enjoyed spending time with her great great niece Paisley on an almost daily basis. Sherry and Paisley called each other best buddies. Sherry loved animals and helped any stray animal that she could. There was no creature too small that she didn’t love and appreciate. During the spring and summer, Sherry enjoyed going to garage sales. Sherry enjoyed having family gatherings often as her family meant the most to her. 

 In keeping with Sherry’s loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to donate organs and tissue for research and so that others may live. 

 Sherry is survived by her brothers Ricky and Gary Williams, her niece Sherry Romine, great niece Summer Williams and her beloved great great niece Paisley Williams, along with many other family and friends who loved her. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Williams and Burrell Williams, grandparents Elvina and Paul Roby, great great nephews Bentley and River and many others who loved her.

 Keeping with Sherry's wishes, there will be no funeral services, and she will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to the family to assist with expenses. Memorial contributions can be made to TruBank in Des Moines.
