Sara Lynn “Cricket” Barker Kolb left this Earth peacefully on May 2nd, 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa in the presence of her family.
Cricket was born on August 19, 1967 in Danville, Virginia to the late Sara Groce Barker and Clarence Gary Groce. She was also predeceased by her beloved adopted father, Yancey Arnold Barker. She leaves behind two children, Kayla Marie Kolb and Jonah Gregory Kolb from her union with Gregory Eugene Kolb. She also leaves behind her dedicated and loving partner, Forrest Dean Nowning and her ride or die fur baby Peaches of Des Moines, her sister, Cynthia G. Seamster (Scott) and a brother Gary Dale Groce of Danville, Virginia, many nieces, nephews, and three bonus daughters.
Cricket was a very devoted mother to her children. A fun, loving, and enthusiastic woman with a heart of gold. She was an artist in the landscaping trade and was very gifted with a green thumb. She will be remembered as having a beautiful spirit and always smiling. To know her was to love her. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
