On January 9, 2021, Norman L. Phelps (Butch), 87, of Des Moines, Iowa went home to rest with his Lord and Savior after battling Covid-19.
Norman was born to Elmer L. and Isalm M. Phelps, on May 27, 1933 in Mystic, Iowa. Norman was employed at Iowa Roofing Company and retired in 1995 after thirty six years. He was a faithful member of the New Baptist Church for many years.
Norman leaves behind his wife of sixty six years, Ellen M. Phelps, one son, Roger L. Phelps of Phoenix, AZ, three grandchildren: Codie Stichter of Denver, CO, Jennifer Smith of Ames, IA, Dylan Treakle, and Ellicott of CO, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Don (Sharon) Phelps of Mystic, IA, his twin sister, Norma McMahon of Centerville, IA, sister, Barbara (Bob) Steen of Des Moines, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gregory L. Phelps, two daughters, Vickie L. Stichter and Rhonda J. Phelps, five sisters: Juanita Thomas, Ethel Brown, Pauline Thomas, Kate Wilson, Helen Thomas, and one brother, Jesse E. Phelps.
He will be severely missed by his loved ones and many friends who had the pleasure of knowing him.
No services planned at this time. A Graveside Memorial will occur at a later date.
