Landon Ray Neal passed away at home on April 23, 2026, at the age of 19.
Landon was born on August 12, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center. He spent his childhood in Prairie City, where he attended PCM schools and quickly became known for his natural athletic ability. Landon excelled in wrestling, soccer, and football, but more importantly, he was known for the way he treated others—with kindness, loyalty, and a genuine heart.
He was a loving younger brother to Daniel and an incredible big brother to Payton, both of whom were deeply blessed to share life with him. Landon was also an exceptionally hard worker who was always willing to lend a hand. Whether helping friends and neighbors with odd jobs or volunteering with Angels for Sam’s bike rides, he gave his time freely and without hesitation.
Landon had a rare gift for connection. He could make friends wherever he went, and his infectious laugh and playful, mischievous personality made people feel instantly at ease. He was loyal, protective, and known for giving the very best hugs—something his family and friends will cherish forever.
Three years ago, Landon moved to Cedar Rapids with Lauren (his other mom). Together, they formed an inseparable team in raising Ryott. Landon became a steady and guiding presence in Ryott’s life—not only as a brother, but as a father figure, protector, and mentor. During this time, Landon and Lauren found healing together, rebuilding their bond with love and grace. He became their rock and their best friend.
Landon is survived by the parents who raised him, Tim and Teri Neal; and by his biological parents, Lauren Neal and Tyler Gage. He is also survived by his brothers, Brandon (Courtney) Neal of Bondurant, Daniel Neal of Prairie City, and Ryott Edwards of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Payton Johnson of Prairie City; his grandmother, Georgia Anderson of Pleasant Hill; uncles Derek Anderson (Bree) of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Bill Dakovich of Indianola; aunts Tiffany (Will) Bailey of Des Moines and Tonya Rehmeyer of Creston; his niece Brystol Neal and nephew Carver Neal; and three special cousins, Sheldon, Corbyn, and Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Anderson, and his grandmother, Betty Gage.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Prairie City Church of the Brethren, 12015 County Hwy S6G, Prairie City, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Landon’s life, though far too short, was filled with love, laughter, and deep connection. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
