On Sunday, April 24, 2022, Kathleen Lynne Rivera, loving mother, grandmother,
sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away at the age of 54.
Kathleen was born on June 2, 1967 in Des Moines, Iowa to Edmundo and JoAnn
Rivera. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1985 and was proud to grow up
on the southside of Des Moines, where she spent over two decades devoted to her
career at a local printing company.
Kathleen will be best remembered for her sense of humor and her generous spirit. She
loved spending time with family and friends, and found joy in preparing her famous
Mexican dishes for social gatherings. Kathleen was considered a “mom” to many, and
she fiercely loved and protected her family. Her laugh, whether boisterous or
mischievous, will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of walking this life
alongside her.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Edmundo Rivera Jr.
She is survived by her children, Dalton Johnson (Brooke), Haley Johnson, and Jamie
Harclerode; her granddaughter, Toula Mae Johnson; her sisters, Andrea Rivera,
Florentina Rivera, Donna Rivera-Thomas (Scott), and Cindy Schreck (Dave); her
brothers, Terry Rivera (Jill), Brian Rivera (Cindy), and Corey Rivera; and an
incredibly large and loving extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28th at 10:00am at St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church (15 Indianola Rd, Des Moines, IA). In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions can be made to the family.
