John Daniel McCoy, age 84, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on November 23, 2024, in Des Moines.
Born on June 23, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, John was a proud Iowan who cherished his roots in the community. A man of great spirit and humor, he loved sharing stories of the "glory days" with anyone who would listen, always with a twinkle in his eye.
John had a deep passion for all things John Wayne, America, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and baseball. His love for these interests was unmatched, and they were an integral part of the joy he found in life.
John is survived by his wife; Kathy McCoy; children; Shawn Raymond Cross, Joni and John Walters, Mike and Carmen Raymond, Laura and Mike Beerbower, Jen and Brad Craig, Jared and Jessica Harridge; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; brother Jerry and JoAnn McCoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russel McCoy and Irene Daniels McCoy.

John’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. His laughter, stories, and love for his family will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
