James (“Jim”) Patrick Rushing, 76, of Lucas, IA, passed away at the Des Moines VA Medical Center on April 19, 2024. Born in Cairo, IL, on July 27, 1947, to parents James Harrell Rushing and Pauline (Born) Rushing, Jim was raised in Carbondale, IL, in his early childhood, and then Des Moines. He graduated from Lincoln High School where he participated in Varsity Cross Country. Jim is survived by his former wife, Michelle Frawley, of Altoona, and their four children: Lana Rushing of Los Angeles, Nathan Rushing of Des Moines, Jerimie Rushing of Boone, and Matt Rushing of Des Moines. He is also survived by his four grandchildren. One of 10 children, Jim’s surviving siblings include Mary Petersen (Norm) of Waukee; Jeane Liska (John) of Delafield, WI; Cassandra Rushing of Wheat Ridge, CO; David Rushing of Des Moines; and Louisa Martley of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Sarah Lueth and Claudia Stodden, and brothers Daniel Rushing and Peter Rushing.
