Helena Ann Ham (née Leinard), age 103, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
Loving wife for 65 years of the late Harold Ham. Loving mother of Dennis Ham. Grandmother of Scott Ham (Chad Garrett) and Andrea “Andi” (Tom) Warta. Great grandmother of Marisa, Kate, and Eric Warta. Sister of the late Ona Marie Foster (Earl) and the late Dean Arthur Leinard. Daughter of the late Arthur H. and Merna Leinard (née Hoots).
Helena was born on November 15, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Arthur H. and Merna Leinard. She was a resident of Des Moines, Iowa for most of her life and attended Roosevelt High School before the family moved for a short time to Storm Lake, Iowa.
Helena was a dedicated homemaker and an administrative assistant in education and banking. She was a cherished friend to many. Some of her favorite things in life were spending time with her family, painting and drawing, and the study of art. She enjoyed music and played piano, organ and violin. She will be greatly missed.
Services: No funeral services are planned at this time. A celebration of life service will be organized at a later date. Helena will be laid to rest next to her husband at Resthaven Cemetery.
