Halcyon Louise Jimmerson, 93, of Grand River, Iowa, most recently a resident of Edencrest at Beaverdale, Des Moines, Iowa, died Friday, October 7, 2022, at Edencrest at Beaverdale.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Creston, IA, at a future date.
Halcyon Myrene/Louise Koeppel, the daughter of Frederick E. and Elmira (Carrington) Koeppel, was born February 26, 1929, in Creston, Iowa. She was raised by her Aunt Frances and Uncle Harry Strunce, whose last name she assumed. She attended Creston Public Schools and Creston Community College. Halcyon was united in marriage to Robert E. Jimmerson on June 30th, 1948, in Creston, Iowa. The couple's union was blessed with one daughter, Frances, and one son, Robert.
Halcyon adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved their time together. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, music, teaching Bible School, and distributing poppies for Salvation Army. Grand River was very special to her, and she served on the Grand River City Council and Decator County Development Commission, as well as served as Treasurer for the Grand River Community Center. She enjoyed her antique business, Hilltop Antiques, for many years.
Those left to cherish the memories of her life include daughter, Frances Ahrens, of Layton, UT, and son Robert (Bob) Jimmerson, of Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Dorothy Stokes, of Springfield, MO, and Shirley Dodge, of Savanah, MO; three grandchildren, Ami (Shawn) Trickey, Andrea (John) Halsted, and Scott (Rebecca) Jimmerson; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey Trickey, Dylan Trickey, Alexis Halsted, and Natalee Halsted.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert; four brothers, John, William, Fred, and Theodore, and three sisters, Rosezella, Isabelle and Alma.
