Dustin James Bills, 37, passed away on May 5th, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of life is planned for May 27th at the Middleswart Lodge, 15875 118th Ave, Indianola, Iowa. Friends and family are invited to gather at 11:00 am with a service at 11:30 and a meal to follow.
Dustin was born on April 8th, 1987, to Tracey Cosner and James Bills Jr. He was a vibrant soul from the very beginning and brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. Dustin was a loving big brother to Dillon Bills and Dakota Angsted.
Dustin met the love of his life in 2007 and became a husband to Alexa Bills on May 31st, 2014. Dustin constantly told Alexa how much she meant to him and was always in her corner. He loved her deeply and strongly every day of their life together.
Dustin became a father, the title he was most proud of, on August 16th, 2014, to his daughter, Dahlia Bills. He called her “Baby Dahl” and he was so proud of the bond he created and continuously nurtured with her. He often commented how she was just like him, and everyone could see she was his “mini”. Everything he worked for, every goal he set, was for his family. Dustin was truly dedicated to “his girls”.
Dustin was loved by many, including his stepfather, Steven Downey; stepsister, Lindsey Downey; Grandmother, Patricia Bills; all of his in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He brought a smile to the face of everyone who knew him and was often described as the smartest and funniest person one knew.
Dustin had a sharp mind, quick wit, expressive personality, unstoppable drive and a passion for life that was contagious. He could accomplish anything he set his mind to. His wife knew that if he said he was going to do something, it was going to happen and there was no stopping him.
Dustin wore many hats in his life, but he found his greatest passion these past few years growing an online following as a Mixed Martial Arts analyst and professional capper. He was known as Bleed MMA online and touched many around the world. His charisma truly shined through, and it didn’t take long to become known throughout the online MMA community.
His time on earth was shortened by far too many years. His generous nature and lively personality will not be forgotten by any who crossed his path. He loved to learn and was constantly seeking knowledge. He loved music, documentaries, and spending time with his family. They enjoyed road trips and spending time in nature, often looking for signs of Sasquatch.
Dustin appreciated every beautiful sunset, every critter found along the trail and was so grateful for every moment spent living life his way. He could convince you of anything if he spent a few minutes talking to you. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the GoFundMe that was organized by his beloved online MMA community in support of his family. Go Here: Donate to In Memory of @BLEED_MMA_, organized by Dhruv Nanda
