David worked as a server in several area restaurants over the years and was most recently employed at Hy-Vee Commissary in Ankeny. He enjoyed working with the public and striking up conversations with his customers.

He loved reading and researching subjects that interested him, and always searched for further knowledge. His deep curiosity and drive to improve himself never ceased to inspire those around him. Along with the intellectual endeavors, this curiosity translated to his adventurous character and quest to try new things.

He was a relentless fighter, who never stopped trying to improve himself, but would think of others more than he thought of himself. He loved his friends and family with a fierce loyalty and love.

David suffered from mental health struggles and addictions that would overpower him physically, but his faith was strong, as was his moral compass.

He had dreams of returning to college and wanted to become relevant in terms of helping people in the health or counseling fields.
