Constance Watkins was born July 9, 1938, in Sturgis SD. She passed in Des Moines IA on 12/5/2024 after struggling with Alzheimer’s for some time.
Connie was a care giver her entire life, helping to raise younger sibling, raising her own children, taking care of her husband when he became ill, caring for grandchildren for long periods of item and caring for one of her adult children when he became ill. During all this time she kept a positive attitude and was a pillar of great strength for her family. She enjoyed crafts and used to knit winter hats, mittens and scarves as well as made stuffed animals that she would not only give to family but to anyone in need.
She is survived by her son Rob (Jennifer) Watkins, brothers Jerry (Julie) Crockford, Jesse (Becky) Crockford, and sisters Hazel Adams and Sheri Adams. She is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Watkins, son Bill, two children and a granddaughter that did not survive infancy, Debbie, Timmy and Barbara Gail Watkins. She also is preceded in death by one younger brother, Bill Crockford.
Her immediate family will gather to mourn her passing and remember her in the next weeks. A celebration of life will be held at her childhood home near Sturgis SD in the spring.
