Cecel R. Sparks Jr. (Butch), 71, passed away on June 17, 2021, at his home in De Soto, IA. He was born on January 17, 1950, to Cecel and Josephine Sparks.
Butch grew up in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from East High School and enlisted into the Navy and served on the USS Albany during the Vietnam War. Butch spent much of his life doing the things he loved like working in the garage (especially on cars), home improvements, helping with various projects, going on bike rides, or relaxing in his favorite chair. He loved spending time with his family and finding every opportunity to help or teach others the skills he could share.
Butch is survived by his wife Rose, children, Tina (Donald) Oviatt, Aaron (Cheyenne) Love, Adam Sparks, Toni (Howie) Siders, Mike (Romy) Siders, Shannon (Tristain) Jannusch, Briana (Mike) Melter, Connor Yunak, grandchildren, Rylie Love, Brian Siders, Beth Siders-Wood, Shane & Ashley Siders, Maverick (Slick) Jannusch, Mileena & Madison Melter. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
Butch will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Memorial Cemetery in VanMeter, IA on Tuesday June 22, 2021, at 11am. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday July 10, 2021, at 304 3rd St NW in Mitchellville, IA beginning at noon. Please feel free to stop by and share your memories with those he loved.
