Thomas Conley



Thomas Conley passed away August 30th, 2024, at the age of 76 in Des Moines Iowa where he lost his battle to Huntington’s disease. He was at the Veterans Hospital for the last year of his life. 


Thomas was born October 14, 1947, where his mom and dad resided in Akeley, Minnesota. He grew up doing farm work of all sorts.


He graduated from high school in 1966 and went straight into the Air Force until 1970 where he was honorably discharged. Then he worked at a paper mill up north in International Falls, Minnesota. 


He met Rose and they were married March 23rd, 1971.  They together moved from Akeley to Dilworth, Minnesota. Where they both worked at Silverline which was a Boat Factory, he was a warranty boat repair person. Thomas also had time to work as a maintenance person fixing all of the big equipment at Holsum Bakery in Morehead, Minnesota. After a few years, they moved to Grimes, Iowa where he was a Maintenance Supervisor at Mrs. Grimes Canning Factory. During that time, they built their forever home at Diamondhead Lake in 2004. He continued to work for Firestone for 20 years, working on anything that needed to be repaired. He ended up retiring in 2010.  He always had a hand at fixing things.

 He is survived by his wife Rose Conley, his sister Fran. His children, Connie Morris and Bryan Conley (Kayla). Thomas also has seven grandchildren, Jazmine, Anthony, Ali, Max, Alairah, Brayelle, Harleigh. Four great grandchildren, Marley, Penny, Peyton and Camden. 

 

 He is proceeded in death by Joe, Larry, Kathy, and his parents Errol and Elsi. 


We will be having a celebration of life at our home in Dexter, Iowa in the next coming weeks. Thomas wanted his body to be donated for scientific research. If anyone would like to send cards or flowers, please feel free to do so. If you need the address please reach out.
