SONDRA JEAN KNOWLES MUELLER HEBERT

Sondra was born October 23, 1936 in Fort Dodge Iowa. The second of four children born to George Harvey Knowles and Velma Lorraine McDonald.

An exceptional beauty, she was married at 16 and a mother by 17. She was overwhelmed by the harsh challenges of life, including losing two children at birth and raising a developmentally disabled child. These circumstances contributed to a less than sunny outlook for most of her life.

Happiness was fleeting. But God works in mysterious ways. For us, the devastating disease of dementia, produced a profound change in our mother. Memories became shorter and shorter, leaving bad experiences in the past. With loving care at Edencrest Green Meadows, she finally knew sustained happiness, even being described as "exuding joy". Because of this and the Grace of God, she and her daughter were able to end a lifetime of painful estrangement.

Sondra was always a hard worker and passed this legacy on to her children. She was at heart a loner, who would have probably preferred to live her life away from people, with her animals (especially cats) and planting acres and acres of beautiful flowers. We pray this is how she entered Paradise on April 6, 2022. Met by her beloved son Derek who preceded her in death.

Sondra is survived by son Billy Hebert residing at Friendship Ark, Ames, IA Daughter Dawn Henderson, son-in-law Dan, Urbandale, IA Grandchildren Danny, Tessa, Lucas and Alex, Des Moines, IA Daughter-in-law Vickie Mueller, Orlando, FL Grandchildren Nicole and Ashley, Orlando, FL, Jennifer LeBlanc (Matt) Atlanta GA, and great grandsons Dean and Matt LeBlanc, Atlanta, GA.

We wish to express our most sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by Edencrest at Green Meadows and Care Initiative Hospice. Truly ANGELS on earth. No memorial is planned at this time.
