Sandy Kay Garden Exline, age 67, passed away peacefully at Methodist Medical Center Comfort Care in Des Moines on June 12, 2025, with her children by her side.
Sandy was born on May 25, 1958, to Clearance Brooks and Betty Lou (Sage) Garden. Sandy attended school in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Sandy then moved to Pella, where she raised her 3 children, Brandi (Harold) Manser, Candi (Bruce) Van Donselaar, and Andrew Garden. Sandy did cleaning jobs for family and friends. She loved to have Sunday dinners and loved to cook for family on the holidays. If you knew Sandy, you have for sure eaten her banana bread! Sandy loved having her grandkids, nieces, and nephews over often. Sandy later married Wayne Exline on September 4th, 1999, and moved around south central Iowa for a few years before settling in Lovilia then to Centerville where she spent the rest of her days living at the Senior Lofts where she spent time cooking meals for their resident gatherings, playing cards, and riding her scooter to the Dollar Tree and to the square to people watch.
Sandy is survived by her 3 children, her grandchildren Justin (Jessica) Manser, Chantel Manser, Michelle Manser, Lindsey Manser, Kylie Manser, Brayden Manser, Calvin (Amanda) Van Donselaar, Brittany Van Donselaar, Ryan (Elizabeth) Van Donselaar, Ethan Van Donselaar, Jeana Van Donselaar, Trevor Van Donselaar, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Van Donselaar, Emma Van Donselaar, Kaydence (Kay) Garden, Allyson (Ally) Garden, Arya Garden, great grandchildren Logan Sisler, Brooklynn Manser, Trayton Manser, London Manser, Nevaeh White, Baker Hay, Beckham Hay, Magdalene (Maggie) Van Donselaar, Michal Van Donselaar Siblings Shirley (Stan) Sneller, Betty Landgrebe, Karen (Barry) Stout and her twin brother Randy (Jaci) Garden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Sandy is proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, Mother and Father-in-law Ruby and Dennis Boucher, mother-in-law Francis Runnells, a sister Donna Garden, a brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Landgrebe, Grandson Zachary VanDonselaar, nieces Sherrill Denise DeHeer, Tammy DeHeer Helle, Betty Ann Garden, and a very dear to her heart cousin Pete Amber.
We would like to invite you to join us for a morning of sharing memories of Sandy, followed by a lunch on July 19th at 10 am at Liberty E-Free Church in Pella, Iowa. Sandy will be cremated with a private family burial at the Belle Fountain Cemetery in Tracy, Iowa.
