Sandra Laidig, 72, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness associated with cancer on Monday November 28, 2022, at Mercy medical center. She was surrounded by her daughters, son in laws and beloved grandchildren when she said I love you for the last time. She was born the youngest daughter of Paul and Erma Laidig. She grew up in Estherville, Iowa and graduated from Lewis Central. After graduation she moved to stay with her sister in Des Moines and married her husband Dennis Van Ryswyk and had 3 daughters. She had many jobs but none as important as being mom to her 3 daughters. She worked at Farmer's Mutual Hail insurance company for 23 years starting in the filing department working her way up to eventually the underwriting department. She was a hard worker and made many friends during that time. She retired and decided to stay in the area to watch her 7 grandchildren grow up and be a special part of their lives. She was known as nana and loved all that came along with that special title. She is survived by her 3 daughters Carrie Parker, Kelly Vos (Brian) and Rachelle Gammon (Todd), her 7 grandchildren Kaleb Nunez, Noah Parker (Jenna), Tabor Nunez (Taylor), Nick Parker-Smith (Ashlyn), Samuel Gammon, Sydney Parker, Ty Gammon as well her great grandson Theo Nunez soon to be great granddaughter Aurelia Parker, her sisters' Darlene Davis, Gwen Butz (Dave) and brother Richard Laidig. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Erma as well as her brothers Irvin, Harley and her sister Delores.
Sandra's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on December 4th, 2022, at 2 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,517 SW Des Moines Street, Ankeny Iowa 50023.
