Robert Verle Chown, son of Verle Richard and Alice (Boswell) Chown, passed quietly on October 5, 2022, surrounded by family at Crestview Rest Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Bob was born in Muscatine, Iowa - April 10, 1933, moving to Lamoni with his parents when he was seven years old. He finished high school in Lamoni, Iowa. After graduation Bob entered the army to go to Germany as a radio operator. Home to go to Graceland College graduating in 1957. Bob was united in marriage to Beverly J. Hyde in December 1956. Then to Maryville Teacher’s college to graduate in Business education in 1960. Began teaching Business in the Eagleville School System for 3 years, going to Greenville/Rossie school district for 2 years. Moving to Malvern, Iowa where he finished his teaching career Loving & enjoying ALL of his great school students. They were all SPECIAL TO MR. CHOWN.
3 sons were born: Jerry Dwane, Terry Lee and Larry Robert Chown. We made a full circle by moving back to Lamoni in October 1981 where we had both grown up! Bob had also earned his master’s degree in Drake University And Northwest Missouri Colleges.
