Robert Pack Robinson (96) passed away October 21, 2024. Robert was born at home in Indianapolis, IN, January 29, 1928, the child of Clyde and Willia (Pack) Robinson. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School with honors in 1945, and DePauw University, Greencastle, IN, cum laude in 1949. He received the Master of Theology degree magna cum laude from Iliff School of Theology, Denver, CO. In 1955 he completed the Doctor of Theology degree with his thesis “A Social Analysis of Montana Protestantism 1950 – 1950.”
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Louise Gaskill on September 10, 1949. Following the completion of seminary and the class work for his Th.D., they moved to Iowa to serve in the Methodist Conference. His pastoral record is: Collins (1953); Norwalk-Linn Grove (1956); Marengo (1961); Ogden (1966); Charles City (1971, Senior Pastor); Mt. Pleasant (1982, Senior Pastor); Sioux City, Grace (1985, Senior Pastor); LeMars First(1987). He and Marge retired in 1990 and moved to a farm in Jasper County where they planted a woodland of 12,000 trees, primarily walnut and oak. Those trees will be ready for harvest in 2093 or later.
In 2012, Bob and Marge moved to Walnut Ridge Senior Apartments in Clive, IA.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and by Marjorie, who died on August 20, 2017, 3 weeks short of their 68th wedding anniversary.
Bob is survived by two sons, James E. Robinson (Kathy Galvan), Albuquerque, NM, and Richard S. (Karen) Robinson, Alexandria, VA, and daughter-in-law Sally Sonnenburg. Also surviving are grandchildren Laura (Colin) Ramsey, Ph.D., Mark (Holly) Robinson, Eleanor (Alex Gomes) Robinson, and great grandchildren Camden Robinson, Lucy Robinson, Fiona Robinson, Alex Ramsey, and Will Ramsey. Also surviving is his dear friend, Shirley Fellman.
