Richard (Dick) Hansen of Indianola, IA passed away Sunday, December 9, 2021 at the age of 72.
Richard was born on May 29,1949 in Clinton, Iowa. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1968 where he met his wife of 51 years, Sue Ellen with whom he raised 4 children. He graduated from Drake with his Bachelors in Education in 1984 and began his teaching career which spanned over three decades until his retirement in 2014.
After his love of God and family, Richard loved football. He played football starting in Junior High and ended his football career playing semi-pro football for the Newton Nighthawks. After that he moved to coaching and continued to be involved with organized football in some way until the fall of 2021.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Walter and Barbara (Suter). His sister Janice, his nephew Andrew Shisler and 6 grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Sue Ellen (Rowe), daughters (Joseph) Cindi Hogan, (Edward) LeAnn Mollohan, Sheri Hansen, Son Chad (Crystal) Hansen, grandsons - Corban, Kolby, Kaleb, Kadan, Alex, granddaughters - Kodi, Thalia and great grandson Fletcher. He is also survived by his sister (Charles) Karen Shisler and 3 nephews.
The family will have a visitation on Monday, December 27 from 4 - 6pm and a Celebration of Life service Tuesday, December 28 at 6 pm. Both will be held at Indianola First Assembly, 1700 West 2nd Ave, Indianola, IA 50125. Please send all flowers and memorial funds to the church.
