Paul Henry Wieser passed away peacefully Friday, November 18th, at Mercy One Hospice
House in Johnston.
Paul was born June 2, 1972, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from St. Pius X School and
Dowling Catholic. A life-long learner, Paul attended several colleges, ultimately graduating
from Drake University with a BA in Philosophy, Psychology and Religion. At the time of his
death, he was pursuing a Masters in Counseling with an emphasis in music therapy.
Paul was a music man. For twenty years, he worked in Seattle and Los Angeles in Music and
Music Production where he rubbed elbows with such greats as Bob Marley, Dr. Dre, and Dave Matthews. He was especially devoted to Bob and Tina Lang who guided and supported him throughout his career.
Paul ’s sense of adventure started at an early age. He apprenticed as a junior blacksmith at
Living History Farms where he was paid in lemonade and peanut butter sandwiches, and he
loved exploring and tracking the 600 acres behind his childhood home.
Paul is survived by his mother Mary, sister-in-law Emily, and nephew Henry. He was preceded
in death by his father Arnold and brother Sean.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring for friends and family. His ashes will be strewn in Seattle, the city he called home, at a later date.
If you would like to remember Paul, a memorial donation can be sent to Mercy One Hospice
House, Johnston, Iowa.
