Patricia Sue Cummings (née Romans), of Des Moines, passed away on April 29th at the age of 88.
Born to Helen and Stanley Romans on March 10th, 1933, Patricia was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. She attended East High School, Grand View College, and Drake University before going on to teach elementary school in Urbandale and Des Moines Public Schools.
She married Robert Walton Cummings on June 10th 1956, and raised four children, Julia, John (Caroline Christensen), Joseph (Mary Beth), and James (Dana Danley). In her life, Patricia found great joy and peace in the little things: playing the piano, gardening, watching birds in her yard, caring for her animals, crocheting, and her daily walk “every day that it’s above 32 out.” She was always happiest when surrounded by family.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, as well as her brothers Stanley, Oliver, and Paul. She is survived by her children, her sisters Gloria Nephew and Rosemary Torp, her brother Michael, and her grandchildren, who meant everything to her: Andrew, Kaileen, Cara, Michael, Abigail, Elizabeth, Ella, Ean, Frances, and Elana.
