In Loving Memory of Opal Rice
November 26, 1932 – June 8, 2025
Opal Rice, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Casey, Iowa, on June 8, 2025.
Born on November 26, 1932, Opal lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, service, and quiet strength. She retired from Pension Clark in 2000 after many dedicated years of work.
Opal was deeply involved in her community. She was a proud member of the Sigma Beta Delphian and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, organizations that reflected her values of education, service, and leadership. She also faithfully served her church, printing the newsletter and programs for the Stuart United Methodist Church for many years.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Opal especially cherished the time she spent caring for her great-grandchildren. She had a natural gift for nurturing others and was always there when someone needed her — offering comfort, support, and love.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: tending to her flowers, reading, and watching her favorite shows. These moments of peace and joy reflected the gentle and steady presence she brought to those around her.
Opal is survived by her two sons, David Rice and Robert Rice; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ailenne Myers; her father, Lloyd Guthrie; and two of her three brothers, Lewis Guthrie and Carl Guthrie.
Her legacy is one of service, strength, and deep, abiding love. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at Stuart United Methodist Church at 12:00 p.m. on June 22, 2025.
A dinner will follow the service, and all who knew and loved Opal are welcome to attend.
