Norma “Kay” Stanfill, born March 19, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Garry and Pauline Porter, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2026, surrounded by her husband and children.

Kay graduated from Hoover High School in 1971, where she met the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Stanfill, in the 9th grade. On August 21, 1971, Kay and Mike were married, beginning a 55‑year journey together as husband and wife. Kay worked part‑time as a bookkeeper, but her most cherished and fulfilling role was that of a homemaker—devoted to raising her three children and filling their home with love, laughter, and warmth.

Creative at heart, Kay enjoyed countless arts and craft projects over the years. Kay’s open heart and beautiful smile turned strangers into friends wherever she went.

Kay is survived by her husband, Michael Stanfill; her three children, Garry (Valerie) Stanfill, Hillary (Kenny) Kane, and Robert (Amy) Stanfill; and her eight grandchildren—Samantha (Tyler) Lynch, Dakota (Emma) Doyle, Drew Doyle, Alexander (Kylie) Kane, Kory Kane, Abigal (Isaac) Sage, Michael Stanfill II, and Lucy Stanfill. She is also survived by eight great‑grandchildren—Sophia Doyle, Brantley Doyle, Rohan Doyle, Travis Doyle, Elowyn Doyle, Joey Lynch, Riley Lynch, and Exodus Sage—and her brother, Dan (Carla) Porter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garry and Pauline Porter; her brothers, Larry Porter and Richard “Dick” Porter; and her sister, Sue Lyle.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held on a later date.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Wesley Life Hospice—especially Olivia Tierny, RN, and her team—for the exceptional love and care they provided to Kay and her family.
