Mona Snyder, 80, of Grinnell, IA, died at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Monday, December 7, 2020. No end of life services are planned at this time. Memorials may be directed to Mid Iowa Community Action (MICA) 609 4th Ave. Grinnell, IA 50112.
Mona was born April 16, 1940, in Fountain, MN, to Verna and Max Bolles. She graduated from Austin (MN) High School. Mona married David Snyder on March 15, 1958.
Mona and David moved their family to Grinnell, IA, in 1967. They raised their children in this community and resided there until recently moving to Legacy Pointe senior living in Waukee, IA.
Mona was a loving caretaker for many of the residents at the Mayflower Home in Grinnell for 35 years.
Mona loved her family. She enjoyed gathering together in her home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mona spent many hours making her home and yard beautiful and welcoming. She was an avid reader and decorator.
Mona is survived by her husband David; sons Doug (Judy) of West Des Moines, IA and Mark (Lynn) of West Branch, IA; son-in-law Mark Kistler of Coralville, IA; granddaughter Kristen Struzynski (Jason) of Oxford, IA; grandsons Brian Kistler of Aurora, CO, Joel Snyder of Milwaukee, WI, Josh Snyder of Iowa City, IA and Owen Snyder of Ames, IA; great granddaughters Zoey and Tess Struzynkski; brother Kirk Bolles (Judy) of Weyauwega, WI; sister Marlys Leonard of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents Verna Hopka and Max Bolles; step-father Ralph Hopka; and daughter Monica Kistler.
