Michael Vernon Stephenson, age 70, of Des Moines passed away July 7, 2022 from complications of a stroke suffered six weeks prior. Despite his valiant efforts working with rehabilitation experts, it was all too much for his fragile body to overcome so it was time to let his soul depart.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Gordon Stephenson, and daughter Jessica Lyon.
Michael is survived by his daughter Katrina (Matthew) Ewald, 3 grandchildren, brothers Thomas Stephenson and Charles (Ruth) Stephenson, and 2 nephews.
In honor of the deceased's wishes, the family is planning no official celebration of life ceremony at this time.
Self-described social recluse and cantankerous old coot, Mike will be missed immensely by those he allowed the opportunity to be a part of his world.
