Michael Bodwell

Michael Vincent Bodwell passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday July 15, 2025 after a courageous, hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. He was born in Atlantic, Iowa on May 18, 1945 to Melvin and Delpha Bodwell. He had a deep love of family, God, and country and would do anything for family and friends. He was a strong, hard worker his whole life.

Michael was united in marriage to Karen K. Kadel in September 1965. Two sons were born to this union, Guy and Jason. The marriage ended in 1976. 

Michael married again on September 7, 1984 to Judy A. Chalfant. They welcomed one son, Brett. Michael and Judy celebrated  their 40th Anniversary in September 2024. 

Michael entered the Air Force right out of high school. He spent those 4 years as a Dental/Oral surgery tech and was always very proud of that time in his life. He worked at Natural Gas Pipeline before starting his career at Carter Printing. Michael eventually became part owner of Carter Printing. He worked there until his retirement in December 2010. He had many lifelong friends and “family” there.

Michael had many interests and hobbies throughout the years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, biking, motorcycles, classic cars, and long walks. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. 

He is survived by his loving wife Judy, sons Guy (Caryn), Jason (Tammie), Brett (Shannon), 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother Lowell (Nancy) Anderson, sister Pam, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Keith Anderson.

A Committal Service for Michael will be Monday August 4th at 2:00PM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, IA 50003).
