Mary Anne (LePorte) Greco, 78, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. A woman of sharp wit and a generous heart, Mary Anne lived a life defined by devotion to her family, a distinguished career, and a legendary sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes.
A proud graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, Mary Anne’s lifelong love story began early when she married her high school sweetheart, Frank Greco. Together, they built a life rooted in Des Moines, welcoming their son, Christopher, in 1971. Mary Anne enjoyed a successful career, retiring as the Director of Catering for the Younkers Tea Room in downtown Des Moines.
Whether she was nurturing her vibrant garden, crafting something beautiful, or filling her home with the aromas of her latest baking or cooking project, she poured her soul into everything she touched. Her home was a sanctuary for her family and her beloved pets.
Those who knew Mary Anne will remember her most for her loving spirit and quick wit. She had a gift for finding humor in any situation, ensuring that laughter was a constant companion to those in her circle.
In honor of Mary Anne’s love for the outdoors, a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026, when the flowers she so loved are in bloom. Specific details regarding the date and location will be shared by the family at a later time.
Mary Anne’s legacy of love lives on through her devoted family: Husband, Frank Greco; Son & Daughter-in-law, Christopher and Chrissy Greco; Granddaughter & Grandson-in-law, Mikhaila and Brandon; Great-Granddaughter, Frankie; Brothers, Barry LePorte and Don (Marge) LePorte; In-Laws, Pete (Tracy) Greco, and Paula (Jerry) Connett; and many beloved Nieces and Nephews. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Helen LePorte, and her sister-in-law, Sandy Anderson.
