Mark Jeffrey Wiemers

Mark Jeffrey Wiemers, 69, of Newton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 16, 2026, in Newton, Iowa

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 11 a.m. at Jasper County Church of Christ, 1813 1^st St. N, Newton, IA.

Mark was born on August 27, 1956, to Leonard and Betty Elmore Wiemers. After a childhood spent in several locations across the Southwest, farming brought the family to the Midwest where Mark graduated from West Marshall High School in State Center, Iowa.

He married Cindy Swab in Marshalltown, Iowa. That union blessed Mark with three children – Jamie, Dustin, and Molly. Mark later found lasting love and partnership with Ronna Meyer Burggraaf, eventually marrying in 2002. Along the way, he proudly added the title of “stepdad” to her children, Andrea and Eric Burggraaf.

Mark spent more than 20 years working in the farming industry before taking roles with several companies, including Maytag Corporation. He wrapped up his working years doing what suited him best — helping people and swapping stories at Theisen’s Farm & Home Store.

If you knew Mark, you probably knew he loved riding his Harley. He and Ronna were always ready for a quick cruise around town or a weekend road trip somewhere across the Midwest. His habit of not regularly washing his bike, earned him the nickname “Bugz” among his riding friends. The open road, good company, and a little wind therapy made him happy.

He was also incredibly proud of his 36 years of sobriety and deeply valued the friendships and support he found along that journey.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard, and Betty; siblings, Barb Miller, Alan Wiemers, Bill Chandler, Ginger Chandler; nephew, Robbie Wiemers; niece, Angie Chandler; and granddaughter, Sophia Myers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ronna; children, Andrea Henry, Jamie (John) Elkin, Dustin (Jennifer) Wiemers, Eric (Heidi) Burggraaf, and Molly (Brad) Myers; siblings and in-laws, Howard Miller, David and Debbie Wiemers, Lori and Jeff Woodard; grandchildren, Jaedyn and Xander Henry, Rowan and Grady Elkin, Hannah, Tyler, and Lauren Wiemers, Logan, Corbin, Benton, and Evelyn Burggraaf, and Cooper, Max, and Stella Myers; several beloved nieces and nephews and his fur buddy, Kion.

The family of Mark would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many friends and loved ones who supported him, as well as the compassionate team at St. Croix Hospice for the care, kindness, and comfort they provided during his final days.
