Marcia Dolores Hickman – age 90 – died January 22, 2022.
She was born in Leon, Iowa on June 17, 1931 to James Butcher and Janie Richardson. She lived in Leon, IA until she met her husband Charles Hickman and moved to Des Moines, IA. They were married for 61 years.
Marcia and Charles had their own business for 45 years. They sold automotive parts and Wynn’s & Bowes products. Charles the salesman and Marcia the bookkeeper.
Marcia was a girl scout leader for 25+ years. She loved animals and had many pets as a child, including a rabbit, fox, and a racoon. In her adult life, she had her dogs that she treated like her kids. She enjoyed riding horses and going to horse shows with her daughter Kimberly. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, and reading. She also loved cooking and baking. She always had a big garden and canned her own vegetables. They likes to go to the motocross races and watch their son and their grandsons race.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chuck” in 2018.
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her daughter Kimberly Hickman and son James (Tina) Hickman. Her brother Doyle (Ruth) Butcher. 4 grandkids: Nathan, Erin, Colin, and Taylor. 3 great-grandkids: Emelia, Ben, and Joshua.
