Lila Carol Smith

Lila Smith, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Urbandale, Iowa. She was born in Adair, Iowa on December 26, 1940, to Wayne and Nellie (Norman) Butcher. Lila married the love of her life, Garry DeWayne Smith in 1965 and they had two sons, Garry David and Timothy DeWayne. Lila attended cosmetology school and later became a beautician starting her own business. She loved spending time talking with her clients and developed lifelong relationships through her work.
Family was everything to Mom. Birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, Mom did everything she could to make them special. She loved spending time with her sons and their families, especially her grandchildren. Mom never met a stranger and had a heart of gold; always helping anyone in need.
Loved and missed by many, Lila is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Garry Smith and their sons, Garry David Smith, (Cyndi) of Windsor Heights and Tim Smith (Trish) of Cincinnati, Ohio and 6 grandchildren, Oliver, Zach, Rian, Madison, Avery and Teague. She is also survived by her sister, Lavonne (Butcher) Alexander and many nieces and nephews.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Nellie Butcher and siblings, Landis Butcher, Lois (Butcher) Allen and Lavelle Butcher.
Family and close friends will celebrate her life at Urbandale United Church of Christ, 3570 70th Street, Urbandale, IA 50322 on Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow at the church.
