Leila Carlitta (Ouellette) Rosander (formerly Johnson), age 77, was born March 25, 1946, in Caribou, Maine, to Delina Marie Rossignol and Rene Romeo Ouellette. She went to be with the Lord, July 17th, 2023, at her home in West Des Moines, Iowa.
She was a homemaker and earned her cosmetology license in California in the 1970s, and practiced in Poulsbo, Washington, and more recently in Norwalk and West Des Moines, Iowa.
She enjoyed worshipping the Lord, caring for her family, helping those in need, and was amazingly talented at crocheting and sewing.
Leila was a strong, compassionate, and faithful woman with a gift of being a nurturer, having plenty of practice throughout her lifetime. She was a joyous spirit with a great sense of humor, always embracing others with love and acceptance. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: Michele (Kurt) Roberts of Kingston, Washington, Lori (Bob) Welsch of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Larry (Abra) Johnson, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren -- Rosco Todd and Rosalie Roberts, Chris Hildreth, Shawn Hildreth, Joseph Welsch, John Welsch, Remy Johnson, Roxy Johnson, Rory Johnson; her brothers and sisters -- Michael Ouellette (CT), Peter Ouellette (TX), Mark Ouellette (CT), Alan Ouellette (TX); Jeannine Grove (TX), Margaret Ouellette (KY), Cheryl Ouellette (MN) and Teresa DiChiara (CT), as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, some of her many siblings, her first husband Larry Johnson, and her second husband Phillip Rosander.
Memorials may be made to the family. Internment and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
