Lance Leinen

Lance Leinen, resident of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2021 at his home, at the age of 32.


Lance is survived by his grandparents, Ivan and Josephine Curtis of Centerville; parents, Brent and Leslie Leinen of Urbandale; sister, Desirae Leinen (fiancé, Tyler Jenkins) of Des Moines; nephew, Trenton Leinen, of Des Moines; girlfriend, Alicia Wright and their daughter, Jersey Leinen, of Urbandale; many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. Lance was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Edna Leinen; cousin, Stefany Leinen; uncles, Barry Curtis, Richard Leinen and Steve Leinen.


Lance was born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 4, 1989. Lance grew up in Urbandale with his family. He graduated from Urbandale High School in 2007. Lance was on the Urbandale bowling team and excelled amongst his teammates. Lance attended and graduated apprenticeship school for painting in 2014. Lance worked many years in the Painter’s Union. Lance was a hard worker and enjoyed the painting industry immensely. Lance met Alicia in 2017 and they welcomed their baby girl on August 30, 2019, Jersey Danielle Leinen. Jersey was the light of Lance’s life.


The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Lance. He enjoyed family dinners, playing in the park with his daughter, playing ball with his nephew and walking local trails. Lance was an avid motorcycle rider. He enjoyed spending many summer nights riding his bike through the city. Lance enjoyed spending time with his parents at the casino. Lance loved to watch and play several different sports.


After a courageous battle with addiction, Lance has found peace. Lance had strong religious beliefs and all his loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
