Kym Hemerson passed away peacefully with Al at her bedside on June 3, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born on July 6, 1961, to James and Leta (Swan) Husske. She grew up in Humboldt, Iowa and graduated in 1979 from Humboldt High School.
She married Al Hemerson on May 18, 1985.
Kym worked at G&H Motor Parts during high school until the business was sold in 1999. She then became a secretary/dispatch for their farming/trucking business. She traveled the United States with Al in the truck until her hospitalization.
Kym enjoyed her hobby of creating photo memory books and was a member of the Trucker Buddy program for over 10 years. She and Al were named Trucker Buddies of the month in 2008 and awarded the Trucker Buddy International Award in 2017. Many former students kept in contact with Kym into their adult years.
Kym is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Angie Husske. She is survived by her beloved husband Al, her service dog, Tinsley, stepson Russ Hemerson (Graham), sisters Cindi (Rodney) Bachtel and Terri Shofner, brother Joe Husske as well as nieces and nephews. She will be missed by friends and truck drivers from across the United States.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date, yet to be determined.
