Kimberly Kae Mount, 58, of Des Moines, IA, passed away on July 20, 2023, due to natural causes with her family by her side. She was born July 18, 1965 to Kay and Larry Mitchell.
Kym had the biggest heart and the most infectious laugh.
Kym was born and raised in Des Moines, before moving and falling in love with Phoenix, AZ. There she met her best friend of over 40 years, Sue Broich. Kym held her friendship with Susie very close to her heart, often describing them as, “soul sisters”. They always had fun together and knew not to take life too seriously.
Kym returned to Des Moines to be closer to her family and start her own. She became the very proud mother of Natasha (42), Amanda (30) and Rachel (26). She loved her daughters very much and one of her biggest hopes in life was for their success and happiness.
In addition to her children, Kym was also a very dedicated pet parent, having at least one at any time, over the past 20 years. At the time of her passing, she had three dogs and four cats with her partner, Larry Jacobsen. They had recently found and rescued a family of kittens together, not uncommon due to her love and true dedication for animals.
Larry loved and admired Kym and will always cherish the life they had together. He brought her happiness, partnership, love and loads of laughter. He will always remember how, no matter what she was going through, she would put others before herself.
Outside of her own animals, Kym was also a penguin enthusiast. Many people who knew her, often think of her when they see any kind of penguin, knowing she would be able to identify what kind it was and the accompanying facts, in seconds.
Kym will be truly missed by the family and friends she left behind. The memory of her fun-loving, witty and carefree nature will be carried on through her loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Tasha Mitchell of Denver, CO Amanda Wasekuk (Ian) of Ames, IA, and Rachel Mount of West Des Moines, IA. Partner, Larry Jacobsen of Des Moines, IA Siblings Susan Miles (Shon) of Bondurant, IA, Melvin Mitchell of Des Moines, IA Larry Mitchelll of Des Moines, IA and Angela Hall (Rico) of Des Moines, IA.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amber, Ashton and Jordan as well as her nieces and nephews, Josh, Justin, Katie, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Jessica and Tyler.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kay Harris and Larry Mitchell.
Her last wish is to take “one last cruise” up South Mountain in Arizona.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday August 5th 1:00 pm at the home of her sister Susan Miles 417 Alpha St Nw, Bondurant, Iowa 50035 Some of Kim’s favorite foods will be served.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Kidney fund or the Antarctic Wildlife Research fund.
