Kayla Marie Foreman, 31, passed away at UnityPoint Methodist on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, surrounded by so many loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 7 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, located at 2515 Wedgewood Rd., Des Moines, IA 50317.

Kayla was born July 29, 1995, in Des Moines, IA, to Jeff and M'Lissa (Newton) Foreman. From childhood, her sky-blue eyes made bad days seem better with just a glance. She was thoughtful and caring and wanted to make everything better for everyone. Even as a child, her big, tight hugs were a reflection of the compassion and empathy she'd carry throughout her life.

Friends describe Kayla as the life of the party, always wanting to have fun and laugh a lot. Her laugh was contagious, and soon everyone would be having a good time. She was a girl who was always there for a sibling, friend, or anyone who needed her. She was the first to give a hug or lend a helping hand.

Her giving nature and heartfelt smiles were our sunshine on a rainy day. Kayla decided to continue that giving nature right up to the last minute by being an organ donor and continuing to help others.

Kayla was called many names throughout her life. The one she treasured the most was MOM. Her greatest joy was her daughter, Irie Sue Hedlund. From the moment she found out she was going to be a mom, Kayla was ecstatic. Irie has a village behind her to help guide her and remind her of the wonderful qualities she inherited from both her parents.

Kayla continued to be a light to everyone as a daughter, sister, Sissy, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend.

Kayla is survived by her daughter, Irie Sue Hedlund; parents, Jeff and M'Lissa Foreman; siblings, Cassandra (David) Van Dyke, KelCee Brown, Kody (Liz) Bellman, and Karlie (Logan) Foreman; and grandparents, David and Cora Newton, Willow Magneson, and Fred and Beth Foreman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved having her as their Sissy, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Kayla was preceded in death by her Mamma, Beckye Alexander, and Bampa, Doug Alexander, as well as her person and Irie's dad, Austin Hedlund.

As Kayla's family, we ask you to think of Kayla in the good times, miss her when you need to, and continue to share her with your world. Be a PINEAPPLE. Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside! Be someone's SUNSHINE on a rainy day! Be a SUNFLOWER. Be someone others can turn to in a time of need and give them energy and strength.

Donations will go to an account set up for Irie to be used for her needs and the future she wants and deserves.
