Kathryn Lynn "Kathy" Larson, 72, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. She leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love for her family and friends.

Kathy was born on August 1, 1953, in Stratford, Iowa, to Russell and Marjorie Anderson. She was the fifth of five children and grew up on the family farm, where she developed a love for reading, sewing, knitting, and cross-stitching that stayed with her throughout her life. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1971 and continued her education at DMACC in Boone and Ankeny, earning her degree in Paralegal Studies.

Kathy later married, and although the marriage ended in divorce, it blessed her with the two greatest joys of her life—her children, Amy and Brian. She loved them deeply and found even greater happiness in becoming a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought endless smiles to her heart, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Those who knew Kathy will remember her incredible talent for knitting. If she admired something, she could recreate it with remarkable skill. She lovingly made countless handmade gifts that became treasured keepsakes for family and friends. Every stitch reflected the care and thoughtfulness she put into the people she loved.

An avid reader with an inquisitive mind, Kathy especially enjoyed reading about the law, a passion that helped her become an exceptional paralegal. She took great pride in her impeccable grammar and spelling and loved corresponding with others as a dedicated pen pal. She had an impressive vocabulary, a love of learning, and the wonderful gift of making every conversation meaningful.

Affectionately known as a true "Chatty Kathy," she never met a stranger. Kathy had a quick wit, a contagious smile, and a delightful sense of humor that could brighten any room. She genuinely enjoyed getting to know people, listening to their stories, and making them feel valued. Her conversations often turned strangers into friends.

Kathy had a tender heart for animals, especially cats and penguins, and she found joy in cheering on her favorite college teams. As a proud member of the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club, she enthusiastically followed Iowa State, and the Oregon Ducks, celebrating every victory and faithfully supporting them through every season.

Above all, Kathy's greatest gift was her loving heart. She was thoughtful, generous, fiercely loyal, and always willing to lend a listening ear or offer words of encouragement. She will be remembered for the warmth she shared so freely, the laughter she brought to others, and the love she gave without hesitation.

Kathy is lovingly survived by her daughter, Amy (Luke), and their daughters, Madison, Della, and Tilly; her son, Brian (Laura); her sister, Betty Swanson; her beloved cousin, Lois (Glen); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

She was welcomed into eternal peace by her parents, Russell, and Marjorie Anderson; her brother, Edvin Anderson; and her sisters, Ruth and Carolyn.

A Celebration of Kathy's Life is tentatively planned for Saturday, August 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the Stratford Community Center. Additional service details will be shared as they become available.

Though Kathy's presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the many lives she touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort, gratitude, and love.
