Kathryn (Kate) Jean McInroy

Kathryn (Kate) Jean McInroy of Des Moines, formerly of Waverly and Cedar Falls, died Saturday September 12, 2026, at Calvin Community in Des Moines.

Kate was born September 26, 1940, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Charles (Charlie) and Ardella Lunkley. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1959. On September 26, 1959, she married Ralph Lee McInroy at St. Patrick Catholic church in Cedar Falls.

The couple resided in Cedar Falls where they raised four children, before moving to a farm outside of Waverly. They later moved to Des Moines to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Kate is survived by two sons; Greg (Kathryn) McInroy of Des Moines; Mike (Vicki) McInroy of Des Moines; two daughters: JoDee (Dave) Ohl of Parker, Colorado; Mary Duetmeyer of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren: Allison, Charlier, Kylie, Lanae, Taylor, Blake, Elizabeth, Liam; sister, Barbara Novey, Loveland, Colorado. She is proceeded in death, by her husband, parents, and brothers.

She will be laid to rest at Willow Lawn Cemetery in Plainfield, Iowa.
