Jonathan Kurtt Gleason, age 61, of Granger, Iowa, completed his earthly journey on March 29, 2026, at home with his loving wife, Julie, and son, Noah, by his side. To celebrate Jon's life, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18th, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 NW Aurora Ave., Urbandale, IA 50322, with Pastor Ben Johnson officiating. Family and friends are invited from 9:00-10:45 a.m. for fellowship at the church prior to the service. A reception will be held immediately following his memorial service at the church. A private burial will be held at St. John's Crane Creek Church, Tripoli, Iowa at a later date.

Jon was born on July 11th, 1964, to Leigh Kurtt and Sharon Kay Gleason at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Julie Meyer on September 28, 1996. They were blessed with a son, Noah, and spent 29 years together, raising their son and enjoying together whatever life adventures awaited them. Jon never took life too seriously; understanding life wasn’t only about the destination but also about embracing the journey, taking the long road, soaking in the surrounding scenery, and finding joy in the little moments and joyously celebrating the big ones. He was a source of knowledge for so many, as there wasn’t any problem he couldn’t solve. He was more than willing to share life lessons and skills with anyone who wanted to learn, but made sure they also understood the “why” behind it. Jon could be seen tapping away to a tune, searching for parts to install on a vintage car, and creating a vision for his numerous projects. Jon was genuine, patient, kind, generous, thoughtful, creative, intuitive, joyful, and made everyone feel part of the family. Jon was confident in Jesus his Lord and Savior and shared God’s Word with others.

Those left behind to cherish Jon's memory include his loving wife, Julie, and their son, Noah, father Leigh (Cynthia) Gleason, mother-in-law Marian Meyer, siblings Kim (Paul) Hink, Dave (Lori) Gleason, Dan (Dana) Gleason, Jennifer (Rob) Wilson, Jerry (Brenda) Meyer, Tim (Cara) Meyer, Twyla (Darwin) Osborn and many nieces and nephews along with numerous good friends and neighbors. Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Gleason, father-in-law, Harold Meyer, and sister-in-law, Joan Meyer.

Jon’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mission Cancer + Blood for all their professional and compassionate care of Jon and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jon’s name to Mission Foundation (Mission Cancer), Attn Jenna Knox, 100 E Grand Ave., Des Moines, 50309, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 NW Aurora Ave., Urbandale, IA 50322, or to Jon’s family for later designation.
