Joanna Belieu

Joanna “Jody” Belieu, age 62, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on February 16, 2026, surrounded by family.

Jody grew up on East 32nd Street, on a block filled with family and memories. She lived life on the wild side and was known for her enchiladas, jungle juice, and hosting a good party. She was a “mom” to many, always offering someone a place to stay — just know you’d be waking up and helping clean in the morning. If Jody wasn’t at home, she was out with friends “catt’n.” She dearly loved her three dogs, Hoochie, Chopper, and Cookie.

Jody is survived by her son, Bubba (Sheresa); daughter, Tricia (Matt); five grandchildren, Lexi, Baileigh, Trevor, Trenton, and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Kasen and Ozzy; her brother, Steve; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna; her father, Joe; and her sister, Diana.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 15, at 1:00 p.m. at 4045 E. 16th St., Des Moines, IA 50313.
