Jerry Chipp

Jerry William Chipp was born in Leon, Iowa, on June 28, 1943 to Lowell Chipp and Irene (Blowers) Chipp. Jerry passed away at Adel Acres Care Center on September 15, 2020.

Jerry was raised on a farm outside of Murray, Iowa and graduated from Truro High School in 1961. Jerry served 6 years in the Navy as a Boilerman. He was Vietnam vet and very proud of his military service. Jerry was a member of the American Legion and a big supporter of Military veterans.

Jerry held many jobs over the years. In his retirement he moved to the town of Woodburn and helped mow for different farmers. When he wasn’t mowing, he had a lifelong love affair with cars. He liked to buy them and talk to anyone and everyone about them. He frequented the café in Osceola where he loved to enjoy a cup of coffee and a good chat or debate with people.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Lowell and Irene Chipp, twin sisters Sharol and Carol, and sister Phyllis Chipp Kuchinski. He is survived by sisters Dixie Davis (Joe), and Sharon Purcell. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19, a private service for the family will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
