Jenna Lynn McDonald

Jenna Lynn McDonald, daughter of John and Sue McDonald, was born October 10, 1983 and died suddenly after a brief illness on Christmas Day December 25, 2021 at 38 years of age.


Jenna graduated from Simpson College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and received a master’s degree in forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She worked at C4 Community Counseling Centers in Chicago and then at Youth Homes of Mid-America and Orchard Place in Des Moines. Jenna also worked in the service industry at Full Shilling across from Chicago’s Wrigley Field as well as at AK O’Conners, Chucks, Mac Shack and Papa John’s in Des Moines.


Jenna was gifted with a special sense of humor. She loved adventure. She traveled to Thailand and even jumped out of an airplane once. She loved to send handmade gifts and make crafts to share with others. Jenna was a HERO in the Recovery Community! She succeeded in ways that many could not and her family was VERY proud of her! She was a proud sister and aunt and a great mother to her daughter Willa. Willa called her mom her best friend.


Jenna is survived by her daughter, Willa; parents, John and Sue McDonald of St Charles; sisters Kati Medick (Jason) of Des Moines and Trisha Hutton of Norwalk; nieces Alice Medick, Pearl Medick, Jaeti Hutton, Murphy Burke and nephew, Harrison Medick. Jenna is also survived by a lifetime of close friends and people who loved and supported her.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 2, 2022, 2–5 p.m. at Carper Vineyard and Winery, 4603 Dakota St, Norwalk, IA 50211. Memorials may be directed to the family for Willa’s future needs.
