Jeffrey Thoames Meyer (Jun 18, 1969 – Sept 7, 2020)
Jeffrey Thoames Meyer passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020, at the age of 51. Jeff was born on June 18, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Hoover High School, in Des Moines, Iowa, and most recently studied welding at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa.
Jeff was a free a free spirit. He lived the life he loved, by his own roles. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his daughter Terin and his three grandchildren. Jeff loved listening to hard rock and heavy metal music – Pantera, AC/DC, 5 Finger Death Punch, and Slayer were a few of his favorite bands. He was a die-hard Chiefs fan, who loved fishing, leather jackets, and mountain dew. The only thing Jeff was afraid of was spiders; he couldn’t get away from them fast enough!
Jeff was as ornery as they come, from his classic “hurts donut,” to smacking the side of the car while you’re driving and then yelling, “You just hit an animal.” He always had a smart-ass remark to make you smile. Who didn’t learn about the “dog jaw?” Jeff was a softy too. His favorite animal was the dolphin, and if you caught him at just the right moment, he’d tell you just how much he loved you.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Terin Meyer-Benton (Joe); twin son’s, James and Joey Meyer; sister, CharLe Mullins (Matt); sister, Stacie Hayes-Timmons (Bruce); brother, David Crooks (Heather); and three wonderful grandchildren, Dakota, Logan and Olivia. He was proceeded in death by his father, Fred Meyer; step-father, David Crooks; and mother, Karen Crooks.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held on September 26, 2020, at Cottonwood Park #8, Saylorville, Iowa from 3-5 p.m. All friends and family are welcome to celebrate Jeff’s life. We will have the grill and fire going
