Janette (Stevens) Kozeliski

Janette (Stevens) Kozeliski of Des Moines, Iowa passed away March 18th, 2026, at age 64.

Janette was born on June 3rd, 1961, in Des Moines to Betty and Paul Stevens. As a child, she spent a lot of time outdoors and particularly enjoyed going to Lake Rathbun to camp and boat with her family. After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High school in 1980, Janette went on a trip to Hawaii with her mom that she often reminisced about years later.

As an adult, Janette began working at Dahls, where she met her ex-husband Chris in 1984. They soon married and went on to have two daughters, Brandi and Kati.

Alongside caring for her daughters, she had the privilege of caring for other family members’ children as well, which brought her such pride and joy. After the children got older, she took jobs cleaning houses and working for insurance companies. Before retiring she helped care for her mom and worked for her family’s drywall business. 

Following retirement, Janette enjoyed caring for her pets, visiting her sister, going on various vacations, having lunch with her cousins, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughters Brandi Kozeliski and Kati (Casey) Linn, her four grandchildren Diego, Kiana,  Kandess, and Corbin. Siblings Paul Stevens Jr. (Deb) and Ruth (Victor) Carmona, along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and a younger brother. 

In honor of Janette and her lifelong love of pets, we ask that you make a donation to an animal shelter of your choosing, in her memory.
