Jane Raye Cooper (McCullough) of Knoxville passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Urbandale, Iowa. She was born on August 11, 1945, in Des Moines to Ernest McCullough and Gertrude Purdy.
Jane lived her life on her own terms, touching the hearts of so many along the way. She loved to reminisce and bring stories to life, often looking back fondly on her childhood in Avon and her move to Des Moines at age 14. Over the years, she built a tapestry of memories—living in Branson, Missouri, in later years with her sister Sue, returning to Des Moines in 1991 where she met her beloved husband Donnie, and most recently, making a home in Knoxville with her friends and cherished pup, Trixi. Visits to Indianapolis and time with her extended family always held a special place in her heart.
Jane treasured her memories with the McCulloughs, Purdys, and Coopers, along with the many friends who enriched her journey. Her warmth, stories, and unique spirit will be deeply missed.
She is survived by many loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Gertrude McCullough; her sister, Sue Meier; her brother, Thomas McCullough; and her beloved husband, Donnie Cooper.
A memorial celebrating Jane’s life will be held on April 25th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., in her first hometown of Avon.
Address: 5701 Southeast 66th Place, Carlisle, IA 50047
