James Norman Jones, Jr. (“Jim”)

James Norman Jones, Jr., lovingly known as Jim, passed away peacefully in hospice care on October 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Jim was born on September 28, 1945, to James and Margaret Jones. He grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, where he attended and graduated from Lincoln High School.
Jim married his beloved late wife, Mary Jo, on November 25, 1964, and together they had three children, Jeff, Joe and Kris.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before embarking on a lifelong career in the automobile industry in the Des Moines area, where he dedicated many years before retiring.
In his free time, Jim could often be found tinkering in the garage, cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, or relaxing while watching his favorite teams. He was a devoted fan of the Iowa State Cyclones, the St. Louis Cardinals, and NASCAR.
Jim is survived by his three children, Kris (Buddy) Moran, Joe (Lisa) Jones, and Jeff (Linda) Jones; six grandchildren, Whitney, Austin, Meagan, Mackenzie, Amanda, and Allison, along with their spouses; twelve great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marilyn (Tom) Brommel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Margaret; his beloved wife, Mary Jo, with whom he shared many cherished years; and his nephew, Gary Michael Fatino.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Kavanaugh House Hospice for their wonderful, compassionate care provided to Jim in his final days.
Jim has been cremated and the family will be privately celebrating him and Mary Jo being reunited again.
