Jack L. Beeman, 83, passed away on August 25, 2023. There will be a celebration of life held at the New Hope Church, 4425 70th St. in Urbandale on Saturday, September 9th beginning at 2pm. The family will greet friends from 1pm until service.
Jack Leon Beeman was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 18, 1940, to parents Carl and Alice (Pownell) Beeman. He was the middle child—definitely the middle child, between his older brother Larry Beeman and his younger sister Donna (Beeman) Deeds. He grew up in the Southeast Bottoms. He was a golden glove fighter and sometimes a street fighter. Jack graduated from East High School and later embarked on a journey with the Navy, traversing the globe.
During his time in the Navy, Jack not only explored different parts of the world but also acquired culinary expertise, becoming an exceptional cook. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Des Moines, where he was blessed with three children: Rhonda Wadle, Kathy Bunce, and Steven Beeman. His professional journey mostly unfolded at Firestone/Bridgestone, where he built tires. He worked diligently to ensure equitable treatment for both himself and his fellow workers.
In 1986, Jack crossed paths with Marsha, the love of his life, and their union blossomed into marriage in 1989, celebrating 34 years of marital bliss. In marriage, Jack was introduced to Marsha’s children: Steve Campagna, Shara Linden, and Shannon LaFave—where strong family bonds were formed. In the wake of retirement, Jack found joy in globetrotting, indulging in antiquing, and relishing the moments spent watching his grandchildren grow.
Jack's life was anchored in faith. He held a deep love for Jesus and actively contributed as a church volunteer, whether it involved chauffeuring a bus, preparing meals, or lending a helping hand wherever needed. His grasp of God's teachings was profound, and he readily engaged in discussions about spiritual matters. Jack's hospitality was unparalleled, and his generosity knew no bounds.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alice (Pownell) Beeman, his sister Donna (Steve) Deeds, and his brother Larry Beeman. He leaves behind his beloved wife Marsha, his children: Rhonda (Chris) Wadle, Kathy (Dave) Bunce, Steven (Shawna) Beeman, Steve (Penni) Campagna, Shannon (Mitch) LaFave, and Shara (Jeff) Linden. Additionally, he is survived by fifteen grandchildren: Kelsie (Matt) Morgan, Sarah Wadle, Bethany (Chris) Palser, Diana Bunce, David Bunce, Thomas Bunce, Anthony Campagna, Sydney (Luke) Adams, Joel Linden, Ethan Linden, Luke Linden, Andrew Beeman, William Beeman, Chloe Beeman, and Danielle LaFave, plus seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Suncrest Home Health and Hospice.
Memorial may be made to Samaritan's Purse in memory of Jack.
